JavaScript Development – Modern ES6+ and Beyond

Core ES6+ Features
ES6 (ECMAScript 2015) introduced transformative changes that have become standard in modern JavaScript. Below are the key features I rely on most.
Arrow Functions
Arrow functions provide a concise syntax and lexically bind the this value, making them perfect for callbacks and array methods.
const add = (a, b) => a + b;
const doubled = numbers.map(n => n * 2);
Destructuring Assignment
Destructuring allows you to unpack values from arrays or objects into distinct variables, reducing boilerplate.

const { name, age } = person;
Promises and Async/Await
Promises handle asynchronous operations cleanly, and the async/await syntax makes them read like synchronous code.

Modules (import/export)
ES6 modules enable better code organization by allowing you to export and import functions, objects, or primitives across files.

Optional Chaining and Nullish Coalescing
The optional chaining operator (?.) safely accesses nested properties; the nullish coalescing operator (??) provides default values only for null or undefined.

Template Literals
Template literals (backticks) allow embedded expressions and multi-line strings, making string composition much easier.

let and const
let and const provide block-level scoping, replacing the problematic var and improving code predictability.
DOM Manipulation and Event Handling
Effective DOM interaction is vital for creating interactive sites. I use querySelector for element selection, addEventListener for events, and event delegation to handle dynamic content efficiently.

Using event delegation avoids multiple listeners and improves performance.
Performance Optimization Techniques
Writing performant JavaScript is part of my development process. I apply debouncing and throttling for scroll/resize handlers, lazy load images with loading="lazy", and use requestAnimationFrame for smooth animations. Avoiding frequent DOM reads/writes and using document fragments also minimize layout thrashing.
